Nine Thermador appliance classes. This site is organised by appliance type rather than by model series, because that is the level at which these machines actually fail.

Storm-season boards
Induction cooktops
Full-surface induction is an electronics platform under a sheet of glass. When a zone dies it is almost never an element, and diagnosis has to start at the inverter boards.
Salt air
Gas rangetops
Star burners, ExtraLow simmer and a griddle or grill module in one drop-in top. Most faults are ignition, gas flow or a control that has stopped cycling correctly.

Professional ranges
One appliance doing two jobs. The rangetop half and the oven half fail in completely different ways, and a range visit has to cover both properly.

Wall ovens
Built into cabinetry, carrying a heavy door and a lot of heat. Wall ovens fail at the door, at the sensor and at whatever the last self-clean cycle pushed too far.

Steam ovens
A small water system inside an oven: fill, heat, level sensing, drain and a sealed door. Weak steam is one of those five, and they are separable in an hour.

Speed ovens
Microwave energy and convection heat in one built-in cavity, which means two heating systems, two failure sets and one high-voltage section nobody should open casually.

Column refrigeration
Panel-ready columns installed flush into cabinetry. Service starts with pulling the unit forward on its rails, and the ice maker is the assembly that fails first.

Dishwashers
Quiet, panel-ready and third-racked, which makes a fault easy to ignore. Most calls here are a machine still finishing its cycle and no longer doing the job.

Hoods, inline blowers and roof-mounted units. The motor is often nowhere near the kitchen, and on the coast it is sitting in salt air all year.

What breaks them here
Northeast Florida applies four separate stresses to a built-in kitchen. Each appliance class sits mainly under one of them, and that is where a diagnosis starts.
Plumbed supply
This class is plumbed into the house, so the shut-off, the supply line, the filter and the drain path are part of every diagnosis, not an afterthought.
Salt air
Chloride-laden air off the ocean reaches condensers, fasteners and hinges in the coastal ZIPs long before anything wears out mechanically.
Storm-season boards
Around 68 thunderstorm days a year put repeated transient stress on control boards and power supplies.
Older kitchen wiring
Pre-war kitchens in Riverside, Avondale and Old Ortega were never wired for modern built-in loads, and the appliance takes the blame for the circuit.

What does a repair cost across these nine classes?
Between $80 and $2,420, depending which component is at fault. Before the appliance is opened a band is the honest answer; a single number is a guess in a quote's clothing.

Asked before booking any of them
Is the $80 diagnostic charged again if a part has to be ordered?
No. $80 is charged once; the fitting visit is the same job, and the charge is credited against the repair once you approve it. A written estimate comes before any part is ordered or fitted.
How far do you drive, and when are you open?
40 miles by road from Fruit Cove. Every distance quoted on this site is drive distance, not a straight line. We work Mon–Fri 8am–6pm · Sat 9am–4pm, by appointment. There is no night or weekend premium on this site because there is no night or weekend service to charge one for.
Do you work for Thermador?
No. Meridian Appliance Works is independent and holds no Thermador or BSH Home Appliances accreditation of any kind; the full statement is in the footer. Our one credential is EPA Section 608 certified for sealed-system refrigeration work, a federal permission rather than a manufacturer endorsement.
Do you service heating, air conditioning or ductwork?
No. Built-in kitchen appliances are the whole business: ovens, cooktops, rangetops, ranges, refrigeration and wine columns, dishwashers and the ventilation over the cooking surface. Furnaces, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits and duct runs belong to a licensed HVAC contractor, and we are not one.

Calibrating oven temp means measuring the true heat, then entering an offset: -35°F to +35°F on display ovens, or a knob routine on Professional ranges.

A wall oven that completes a clean cycle and then goes completely dead is a recognisable fault with a recognisable cause. What opened, and why it opened.
Nine classes, and the trade next door that is not ours
Meridian Appliance Works opens built-in kitchen appliances, and that is the whole list: Thermador wall ovens, steam ovens and speed ovens, professional ranges, gas rangetops, induction cooktops, refrigerator, freezer and wine columns, dishwashers, and the ventilation hung over the cooking surface.
We do not service heating, air conditioning or ductwork. No furnaces, no heat pumps, no air handlers, no mini-splits, no duct cleaning and no duct replacement — not as a sideline, and not handed to a partner firm. A house that will not warm up or will not cool down is a licensed HVAC contractor's job, and we say so on the telephone instead of booking a visit we could not finish.
The two trades share some vocabulary and nothing else. A range hood has a duct above it. A refrigeration column has a sealed system, a condenser and a condenser fan, and the ambient of the room around it — air-conditioned or not — is what that condenser has to reject heat into. All of that is appliance work, and it is where EPA Section 608 applies: it permits us to open a sealed refrigeration circuit, not to touch the building's own heating and cooling plant.
Independent, and saying so plainly
Meridian Appliance Works is an independent service company. We name Thermador only to say which appliances we work on: built-in equipment from Thermador and the rest of the BSH Home Appliances line, diagnosed and repaired by our own technicians using genuine OEM parts.
- EPA Section 608 certified for sealed-system refrigeration work. That is a federal requirement to open a sealed refrigeration system, and it is the only certification we hold out.
- Licensed and insured in the State of Florida.
- Parts come through the same BSH Home Appliances distribution channel that serves Bosch and Gaggenau, which is why lead times on a Thermador part behave the way they do.
