The figures for Nocatee

Drive distance

12 miles by road from St. Johns County, about 20 minutes. Not a straight-line radius.

Service access

We plan the way in before we start: whether a panel-ready column can come forward on its rails, whether the floor in front of it needs protecting, and where the shut-off and the isolating breaker actually are. That is decided at booking, not on the day.

Salt air

Inland. Corrosion is not the leading hypothesis in this ZIP, so we look elsewhere first.

Housing stock

Post-war to modern. Cabinet openings and circuits generally suit current built-in dimensions, so access is rarely the constraint.

Storms

Around 68 thunderstorm days a year across the region, which is a control-board problem rather than a weather problem.

Diagnostic · 32081 $80 Flat, the same in every ZIP we cover, and credited toward the repair when you approve the work.

Drive time

12 miles · 20 minutes. Everything we publish is measured on the road, and the whole service area is capped at 40 road miles.

St. Johns County

New kitchens, and why they still generate service calls

Coastal Oaks, Twenty Mile, Del Webb, Greenleaf Village and Seabrook Village are recent construction, which means most of the built-in equipment we see in 32081 was installed within the last decade and is mechanically in good order. The faults are not wear-out faults, and that surprises people. What we find instead falls into two groups.

The first is installation. Built-in appliances go in near the end of a fast construction schedule, usually by a different trade than the one that built the cabinetry, and the mistakes are consistent enough that we look for them first: an induction cooktop with its underside airflow path closed in by the counter substrate or a drawer box, a wall oven and speed oven stack with no usable vent clearance, a column refrigerator whose water shut-off has been finished into a cabinet where nobody can reach it, hood ducting with more elbows and length than the blower was sized for, and circuits that were meant to be dedicated and are not. Every one of those produces an appliance that worked on the day of handover and fails early, repeatedly, in a way that looks like a manufacturing defect and is not. Replacing the part without correcting the cause is not a repair.

The second is electronics. A modern built-in kitchen is a set of computers on long dedicated circuits, and this region averages around 68 thunderstorm days a year on top of the multi-day outages that followed Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017 and Helene in 2024. Boards and inverter-driven compressors rarely fail during the event. They fail two or three weeks later, which is why the first question we ask about a dead appliance is when the power last went out, and why we check supply and circuit before condemning anything inside the machine.

When you should not call us at all

A lot of the equipment in 32081 is young enough that the manufacturer’s own warranty may still apply, and in that case the right first call is to the manufacturer, not to an independent shop. We will tell you that on the phone. It costs us the visit and it is plainly the correct advice, since a repair we perform on equipment still in warranty is a repair you have already paid for once.

The same applies to anything that is a builder or installer responsibility while a home is still inside its warranty period. A cooktop closed in by joinery or a duct run that was never sized correctly is not an appliance fault, and the party that built it is the party that should correct it.

Getting to you

Nocatee sits about 12 miles from our base in Fruit Cove and takes roughly 20 minutes by road, out along County Road 210. That is drive distance and drive time, not a straight line on a map. It puts this ZIP comfortably inside our 40-mile road radius and makes it one of the areas we reach fastest.

Nocatee has one practical quirk worth mentioning on the phone: gated and managed neighbourhoods sometimes need a visitor arrangement made before an appointment. Telling us at booking saves everybody a phone call at the gate.

What we actually recommend here

Photograph the data plate on every built-in appliance in the kitchen once, and keep the pictures somewhere findable. Model and serial together are what decide which variant of a part fits, because equipment that stayed in production for years did not stay identical, and ten seconds with a phone saves an entire second visit later.

Treat a change in noise as information. A hood blower or a convection fan that has developed a new sound is telling you about a bearing or a capacitor months before it stops, and that is the cheap end of the repair.

Keep condenser areas clear and get them cleaned on a schedule rather than when a compartment starts drifting warm, and change refrigeration water filters on their interval rather than when the indicator becomes annoying — a restricted filter shows up as hollow or undersized ice long before it shows up as anything else.

What we are called out for in Nocatee

Meridian Appliance Works opens built-in kitchen appliances in Nocatee, and that is the whole list: Thermador wall ovens, steam ovens and speed ovens, professional ranges, gas rangetops, induction cooktops, refrigerator, freezer and wine columns, dishwashers, and the ventilation hung over the cooking surface.

We do not service heating, air conditioning or ductwork. No furnaces, no heat pumps, no air handlers, no mini-splits, no duct cleaning and no duct replacement — not as a sideline, and not handed to a partner firm. A house that will not warm up or will not cool down is a licensed HVAC contractor's job, and we say so on the telephone instead of booking a visit we could not finish.

The two trades share some vocabulary and nothing else. A range hood has a duct above it. A refrigeration column has a sealed system, a condenser and a condenser fan, and the ambient of the room around it — air-conditioned or not — is what that condenser has to reject heat into. All of that is appliance work, and it is where EPA Section 608 applies: it permits us to open a sealed refrigeration circuit, not to touch the building's own heating and cooling plant.

Parts, lead times and the second visit

Almost every built-in repair is two visits, and we say so at booking rather than discovering it on the day. The first visit is diagnosis: reproduce the fault, measure rather than assume, and read the model and serial from the data plate, because the serial decides which variant of a component actually fits an appliance that has been in production for years.

Parts are ordered against a written estimate through the BSH distribution channel that also serves the sibling brands. Common wear items — door hinges and springs, gaskets, thermistors, fan motors, capacitors — usually move quickly. Control boards, inverter boards, sealed-system components and anything panel-specific take longer, and glass and door assemblies for older equipment are the ones most likely to be discontinued. Where a part is no longer made, we say so instead of quoting a repair we cannot complete, and the conversation becomes repair-versus-replace on real numbers.

How a visit is charged · Worth repairing, or not?

Asked before a visit to Nocatee

How far is Nocatee, and is there a travel charge?

12 miles by road from Fruit Cove, St. Johns County, about 20 minutes, in St. Johns County. No mileage surcharge inside the 40-mile road radius; beyond it we decline the call rather than adding a charge to it.

What fails most in Nocatee kitchens?

Nocatee is inland and mostly post-war to modern, so corrosion is not the leading hypothesis. What recurs is how built-in equipment was fitted at the end of a construction schedule — clearance, vent path and condenser access.

Do you do heating or air conditioning work in Nocatee?

No, and we never have. Meridian Appliance Works repairs built-in kitchen appliances only — ovens, cooktops, rangetops, ranges, refrigeration and wine columns, dishwashers and cooker hoods. A furnace, a heat pump, an air handler or a duct run in Nocatee needs a licensed HVAC contractor; that is a different trade with a different licence, and we will tell you so rather than take the booking.

What should I have ready when I book from Nocatee?

The model and serial off the data plate rather than the receipt; whether a panel-ready column can come forward on its rails and what the floor in front of it is; where the water shut-off and the isolating breaker are; and any outage or trip in the weeks before the fault.

Recent visits around Nocatee

One visit each, in the words we were given, unflattering ones included.

  • After a power cut the ignition clicked on every burner at once and would not stop. He replaced the spark module and found moisture had tracked into one of the switch bodies. No clicking since.

  • The flexible zone works again after a board change. The wait for the part was longer than I expected and I would rather have been told that at the outset than a week into it.

    Juno H.2025-08-12

  • He fixed the fault, a failed door interlock switch, and it works. The unit was refitted slightly proud of the cabinet and I had to ask twice before somebody came back and sat it properly.
