Thermador Repair in Fruit Cove and St. Johns
3 miles by road, about 8 minutes from our Fruit Cove base
The figures for Fruit Cove
Drive distance
3 miles by road from St. Johns County, about 8 minutes. Not a straight-line radius.
Service access
We plan the way in before we start: whether a panel-ready column can come forward on its rails, whether the floor in front of it needs protecting, and where the shut-off and the isolating breaker actually are. That is decided at booking, not on the day.
Salt air
Inland. Corrosion is not the leading hypothesis in this ZIP, so we look elsewhere first.
Housing stock
Post-war to modern. Cabinet openings and circuits generally suit current built-in dimensions, so access is rarely the constraint.
Storms
Around 68 thunderstorm days a year across the region, which is a control-board problem rather than a weather problem.
Drive time
3 miles · 8 minutes. Everything we publish is measured on the road, and the whole service area is capped at 40 road miles.
St. Johns County
This is where the van starts
Every drive time quoted on this site is measured from Fruit Cove, because this is where we are based. For 32259 itself that means a short local run of about 3 miles and under ten minutes to most addresses, and it is the reason we can usually offer this ZIP a tighter appointment window than anywhere else in the service area.
Being local also changes how a repair is structured. Almost every built-in job is two visits — diagnose, order against a written estimate, return and fit — and the second trip is the one that decides whether the first was honest. When the return is ten minutes away, there is no incentive to guess at a part on the first visit just to avoid coming back.
Four different kinds of kitchen in one ZIP
32259 covers a wider range of housing than its size suggests, and the differences are practical rather than cosmetic.
Julington Creek Plantation is largely 1990s and early 2000s, which puts a lot of its original built-in equipment at or past the age where the first major decision arrives. Durbin Crossing is newer, with kitchens designed around built-ins from the start. RiverTown is newer still and much of what we see there is barely out of its first service interval. Switzerland, along the river to the south, includes much older and much larger houses, some of them with kitchens that have been remodelled two or three times around whatever the previous layout allowed.
That last category is the one that requires planning. A column refrigerator installed into a retrofitted opening, or a 48-inch range fitted into a space that grew to accommodate it, tends to have a service access story attached. We ask about it when you book so we arrive with the right expectations.
The faults we see most locally
Ice makers in freezer columns, which are the most-replaced assembly in built-in refrigeration anywhere and are usually a supply or harvest problem rather than a dead unit. Dishwashers that no longer drain properly, which is almost never the pump and almost always the filter, the drain path under the sink or a crushed hose behind the machine. Wall oven doors sagging in the older Julington Creek houses, which is hinges and springs rather than anything electrical. Steam ovens that run a full cycle and barely steam, which separates into fill, heat, level sensing and the door seal once someone watches the cycle instead of the symptom.
And after a bad storm week, a scattering of control-board calls: this area averages around 68 thunderstorm days a year, and appliance electronics on long dedicated circuits are exposed to that. Those calls rarely arrive during the storm. They arrive two or three weeks later, which is why we ask about outages before we quote a board.
Why the local base matters
Being ten minutes from a large part of our workload means we can come back quickly with a part, which changes how a repair is scheduled. We diagnose, order against a written estimate, and return, rather than trying to guess a part on the first visit so we only have to make one trip. That is a better repair, and it depends on the return trip being cheap in time.
Booking
Flat $129 diagnostic, credited toward the repair when you approve the work, and a written estimate before any part is ordered or fitted. Genuine OEM parts through the BSH distribution channel, 90 days on labour and 365 days on parts, EPA Section 608 certified for sealed-system refrigeration work. Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 4pm, by appointment. We are an independent appliance repair company with no manufacturer authorization of any kind.
Parts, lead times and the second visit
Almost every built-in repair is two visits, and we say so at booking rather than discovering it on the day. The first visit is diagnosis: reproduce the fault, measure rather than assume, and read the model and serial from the data plate, because the serial decides which variant of a component actually fits an appliance that has been in production for years.
Parts are ordered against a written estimate through the BSH distribution channel that also serves the sibling brands. Common wear items — door hinges and springs, gaskets, thermistors, fan motors, capacitors — usually move quickly. Control boards, inverter boards, sealed-system components and anything panel-specific take longer, and glass and door assemblies for older equipment are the ones most likely to be discontinued. Where a part is no longer made, we say so instead of quoting a repair we cannot complete, and the conversation becomes repair-versus-replace on real numbers.

Recent visits around Fruit Cove
Each entry is one visit: what failed, what was measured, what was changed. They are printed as they were given to us, and the less flattering ones are printed too.
The upper spray arm had stopped turning and glasses were coming out dirty. He replaced the arm bearing and cleared the feed tube. It washes properly, though the panel still shows a stale error code.

The griddle plate had stopped getting up to temperature at the back. He traced a failed element and a loose spade connector that had been arcing, replaced both and rechecked the surface with a probe.

It cooks properly again after the board swap. The problem was the wait. The part took the best part of a month to arrive and I had to prompt for an update more than once during that time.
